Dear Baby: Letters to Arlo.  →
dearbaby: Dear Arlo, I was reading a beautiful story by another blogger last week when I was stopped abruptly by these words: “God makes children so specifically for us, each of them.” ~Arianna Segerman It called on me to sit down and write this to you. Before you were born, I carried some… This.

To the rescue
James: Mommy, I went out last night after it got dark and I got those bad guys. I went pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, POW.
Me: Thanks for getting those bad guys, Buddy!
James (with gusto): My pleasure!

Crib Bedding Help Needed
There is a good chance that we’ll find out the sex of baby #2 on Monday! I have a clear idea of how I want to decorate the nursery for a boy but not even a clue about what to do if it’s a girl. Does anyone have a great, reasonably priced resource (as a reference, James crib bedding set was less than $200) for crib bedding?

Groundhog Day
My friendly co-worker told me again today that I looked “really big” for only being 15 weeks pregnant - only this time it was in front of most of my other co-workers. She is sure that I am having twins. Disclaimer: I cannot be held responsible for my actions if she keeps this up.

Happy (belated) New Year
Sorry for the extreme lack of posting over the past couple of weeks. Honestly we’ve been busy, and posting seemed exhausting with everything else going on. Still, I have been keeping up with everyone. Skip declared at breakfast Sunday morning that he felt like this was going to be our year. For a guy who isn’t overly optimistic, this declaration was huge. Can’t wait to see...

thedaddycomplex: This list is not what you think, but totally accurate as far as I’m concerned. Click through for the descriptions. The list goes thusly: Stick Box String Cardboard Tube Dirt I can’t tell you how much of my childhood was spent either playing in or seeking out the perfect box. And though I’m grown, I still enjoy playing with dirt. (via npr.tumblr.com) This is what I have...

Update: Chiropractor
Based on the overwhelming response to my question about chiropractic care (meaning no one responded) and the fact that I have been feeling worse after each adjustment instead of better, I’ve decided to abandon the chiropractor. My husband, parents and most everyone else (including myself) just breathed a sigh of relief.

Adjustments?
As I have alluded to before, I have had back issues off and on for years - mostly my sciatic nerve. A few weeks ago, the pain all the way down my right side was so bad that I was out of work for almost a week. I am scheduled to see a pain specialist at a renowned back clinic on Monday, an appointment that was scheduled four weeks ago at the height of the pain. In the meantime, I have been...

Today
I am thankful for morning sickness because it means that my hormones are going crazy and thus my baby is (hopefully) growing like a good little peanut (or this week a grape) should. However, I feel terrible today. Despite a relatively good night’s sleep, I am beyond exhausted and extremely nauseated and to top it off, I feel like my back is worse despite starting a very expensive regime...

Compliment?
My boss just stopped by my office to say this his 15-year-old son was shocked that I got a minivan. Apparently, he thinks I am too cool for my ride now. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; at 16 or even 21, nobody thinks they’ll be driving a minivan. But with gas prices as high as they are and as huge and trucky as those full size SUVs are, this was exactly what I...

Uh Oh
I am already wearing a size larger than normal. And though I’m not feeling sick all the time, when I am sick the only thing that really helps is saltines. In mass quantities. I lost 7 lbs in my first trimester when I was pregnant with James and still ended up a good 40lbs heavier that my norm when I delivered him four full weeks early. Crap.

Granddaddy (my dad): James, you are being a sour puss.
James: Granddaddy, I am not an octopus!
Granddaddy (laughing, of course): Then what are you?
James: I am just a kid.

Update
Sorry for the lack of posting over the past few weeks. Things have been a bit crazy around here. First there was the weeklong sales meeting. Then there was the horrendous backache that immediately followed said sales meeting. Then there was the morning sickness that accompanied said backache. All in all, the past few weeks have been challenging at best. And in case you missed it, yes, I am...

unicornfandancing: littlemagnolia: Why are white kids occupying Wall Street instead of making active change by volunteering? Because they came of age during the largest and most exorbitant economic “bubble” of homebuilding, credit, and technology the white middle class has seen since… I literally just had this exact same conversation with a co-worker.
